Frome businesses reap the benefits of local MOTs

Businesses in the Frome area are saving valuable time and money on their commercial vehicle MOT tests thanks to Imperial Commercials’ recent accreditation as a VOSA designated premises. Investment at the Frome premises will also enable the dealership to apply as an Authorised Testing Facility (ATF).

Having more flexibility and choice in their CV test location enables businesses to schedule MOT tests at a time and place of their convenience, reducing transportation costs and operational downtime. The service at Imperial Commercials in Commerce Park, Frome, proved popular as soon as it went live on 1 May, with the testing facility fully booked a month in advance.

David Lewis, Imperial’s Regional Director, explains why the service is attractive:
“Our customers tell us they like our competitive pricing and the speed and convenience of having their vehicles tested locally, which means they can spend more time serving their own customers. They also benefit from having faults fixed and vehicles re-tested onsite if they don’t meet MOT standard first time through. For operators who have large numbers of commercial vehicles, it can all add up to a significant saving.”

The Frome dealership is the first in Imperial Commercials’ national network to take advantage of VOSA’s plan to test at more non-VOSA sites in the future.

To gain Authorised Testing Facility status premises have to meet VOSA’s rigorous standards, including the creation of a test lane, compliance with space dimensions, and investment in testing equipment and signage. In addition, Imperial Commercials has provided office space and IT facilities for VOSA’s test engineers.
